Are the PRE-Req's Required prior to taking the course? No. Anyone can take this course, whether you are just getting into the teaching industry or are a veteran fitness professional. We do highly recommend taking the BCRPA Group Fitness module before or after this course before teaching your own classes which will provide your insurance.

How does the course run? This course is taught in an education and practical setting. It is important to understand the concepts of cycling to create a safe and effective program and also gain practical experience for teaching. We will spend 3 hours in the classroom  and 3 hours on the bike and 1 hour developing programs.

Does this Course Provide Insurance? No. You will need to have your own insurance provided by the BCRPA, Can Fit Pro, CFES, or other associations. We strongly recommend getting insurance prior to teaching. If you are confused on how to do this, give us a call, we are happy to help you.

Can I teach a cycling class after doing this course? Absolutely! You will have the skills to feel confident as a fitness instructor. Please note, most community centers and private gyms require having your BCRPA or equivalent prior to teaching. Speak to the facility who you are teaching for what their requirements may be.

Do I need to renew each year after I take this course? No. We do not require you to renew each year, however, we highly suggest continuing your fitness education through courses and workshop as the fitness industry is changing frequently.

What do I bring to the course? Bring a towel, reusable water bottle, workout clothes, clothes to change into after the cycling portion is complete, snacks to eat throughout the day, cycling shoes are optional (SPD Specs), gel seat or padded shorts (optional). We also suggest layering as the temperature will change based on the portion of the day.

Is the whole course on the bikes? No :) We do part classroom for this course and part practical. You will spend about 3 hours on the bikes so be well hydrated.

Can I participate in this course if I have an injury or expecting a baby? Yes, you are most certainly welcome to take the course and we can provide a chair next to the bike if you are uncomfortable or cannot ride for too long or not at all. You will still learn just as much as everyone else.
